Dry Slope Threatened by Proposed Housing Development

One of the closest dry ski slopes to London, and one of the UK’s longest established, at Brentwood Park appears to be under threat.

The owners of the land on which the slope is located have submitted plans to build houses on the site, also considered metropolitan greenbelt land,  where the ski slope was first created in 1974.

The centre is located in 54 acres of woodland and has a selection  of slopes for all abilities.  It is particularly popular with children and families, playing host to a number of ski teams and visiting schools.  There have been many comments on the ski centre’s social media pages objecting to the plans, particularly in light of its high value to children and the community.

Concerned skiers and boarders are being requested to sign a petition and to register then object directly to the council on the council’s site via the comments section on the planning application’s web page, which legal experts say will most likely have a greater impact than the petition.

A council hearing on the application is due to take place on Friday 16th June 2017.
