A dry ski centre in Telford, Shropshire, has begun a £700,000 investment which will extend and refurbish its facilities, although no changes have been announced to its actual ski slope.
The Telford Snowboard and Ski Centre, which operates an 85 metre long year round dry ski slope along with a nursery slope is reporting growing visitor numbers.
The renovation work, expected to take around five months to complete, will see the main building modernised and extended.
17 new showers, 13 new toilets and additional changing room space will be added to help meet demand, which is in part reported to be coming from a new astro turf sports field located next to the slope. The whole building will be timber clad to give it a new look.
James West, chief operating officer at Morris Property which is carrying out the work, said: “We’ve been working closely with the employer to meet their budgetary requirements to provide an improved leisure facility in Telford, which can be enjoyed by both the local community and visitors alike.”
