The Diavolezza Glacier near St Moritz in the Swiss Engadin region has announced it will stay open until May 25th this year.

With most other Swiss areas including Diablerets glaciers opting to close after today, Zermatt and Engelberg will be the only other Swiss glacier options open for snowsports for most of May.

Diavolezza is known for its epic glacier run but also has several new attractions to entice visitors this spring.

They include a new viewing platform designed to will give visitors the feeling of hovering in mid-air amidst the ice and glaciers with panoramic views of the Bernina massif from the Diavolezza’s top station.  The platform is being built in the form of a glacier tongue with a steel grating floor.

A further project is the stairway at the Diavolezza top station, which is to feature a Glacier Trilogy consisting of three floor-to-ceiling photographs by the renowned photographer, Robert Bösch.
