Britain’s Dave Ryding has taken his 7th career podium with third place in the night slalom race at Madonna di Campiglio in Italy.
The 37 year old racer was lying in 15th place after the first run but saw 12 of the racers that had finished above him after the first run failing to beat his combined time for the two runs.
Having finished fourth in the first slalom race of the season, Ryding is currently third in the slalom overall standings with 110 points and 11 more races to go.
Ryding, Britain’s most successful racer of the World Cup era, described his podium as a “Nice Christmas present.”
Austria’s Marco Schwarz won the race and moved to the top of the overall leader board with his 100 points, France’s Clement Noel, who had led after the first run, took second place.
