An American ski sock manufacturer has an unusually robust guarantee with its ski socks, their lifetime guarantee means you can always return them, and that includes from the UK.
Darn Tough Vermont make premium ski socks in America, but sell around the world including in the UK, and say that every pair they sell is “Unconditionally Guaranteed for Life,” adding, “If our sock isn’t the most comfortable, durable, best fitting sock, we replace them.” It’s easy to claim a new pair, even from Britain.
That guarantee has resulted in some ‘interesting’ returns and at the more extreme end of the socks the company has had returned was a pair where one sock had had a dramatic change of colour.
“We received a return packet with a Ziplock bag (with two socks), a letter, and a photo,” a Darn Tough spokesperson explained, “In the Ziploc bag was a pair of women’s lifestyle socks – bright-coloured socks, however, one was quite faded. It was odd. They were both intact, but the colour was quite different. We then read the letter. To make it short, the family’s large golden retriever had eaten and passed one of the socks, and the stomach acid had changed the colour of the sock. The sock itself had no damage! The people didn’t ask us for new socks, they just wanted us to know how durable our socks were.”
