Courchevel has announced that following the fresh snow over the weekend it will be opening some of its terrain early, tomorrow Wednesday 25th November, with the ski lifts running free of charge for early arrivals and locals in the resort.

The special opening is 10 days ahead of the resort’s scheduled opening day on 5th December.

With the ski season not yet started, no official snow report has been issued for the famous resort in the French 3 Valleys but up to two feet of fresh snow was recorded over the weekend in the wider area, and some images published on social media show people apparently waist deep in snow.

The lifts will run from 10am to 3.30pm on the day with the Bellecôte, Jardin Alpin and l’espace Zen du golf pistes open.

There’ll also be sledging on the resort’s Snow Front and hot chocolate and live music provided.

Val Thorens had been due to be the first ski area to open in the 3 Valleys last weekend but postponed opening to next weekend due to the extreme blizzard conditions last weekend.
