Conditions are slowly returning to normal, a little at least, it seems, in Chamonix.
There has been still more incredible snowfall over the past week. Great news for the rest of the season but bad news in the short term.
The snow has eased off a little meaning more slopes should be made safe and able to open through this week, although the forecast is currently unclear whether another wave of heavy snowfall is likely later this week or early next.
So far the resort is beginning to re-open roads used to access ski slopes and making ski slopes safe is the next priority, so it is unclear how soon these will re-open.
Snow reporting has rather taken a back seat as resort crews battle to re-open roads and slopes. At least 50cm has fallen in the past few days but currently upper slope depths have not yet been measured.
