It’s mostly dry and generally clear in the Chamonix Valley with little or no fresh snow in the past week and not much in the forecast either.
It has been cold but it may get colder with temperatures as low as a bone chilling -25C in the forecast by mid-week.
Currently base depth measurements from Chamonix’s different sectors are incomplete but most are reporting at least 2m on lower runs whilst upper base depths, where measured, are past 4m at several areas.
The off piste avalanche danger remains considerable at level 3 on the scale to 5.
