An interesting turn around in North American snow cover with the previously warm and dry West now getting dumped on, whilst the previously cold and snowy East is seeing very high late February temperatures that has forced some smaller, more southerly areas to close early for the season and even the biggest resorts like Killington in Vermont are struggling to keep half their terrain open.
It’s ski areas in California that have been reporting the biggest snowfalls this week – with several reporting 30-40cm daily since Sunday, so its full on powder conditions there.
North of the border there’s plenty of snow still in Western Canada and some (but not a lot) of freshy snow forecast. In the east though it’s a bit of a battle to maintain cover at Canadian areas too.
FRESH SNOW ALERT! 4-5" of new snow this afternoon and the forecast is only getting better for the rest of the week.
