The 2018 Paralympics Closing Ceremony is currently underway, with the South Korean Games ending on a high for Team GB who took their medal tally to seven on the final day, winning gold and bronze in the women’s visually impaired ski slalom race.

Menna Fitzpatrick, who was later named as the British flag bearer for tonight’s closing ceremony, and guide Jen Kehoe, won gold in the slalom race today, their fourth medal to the 2018 Paralympic Games.

Millie Knight and Brett Wild took the bronze, their third medal of the Games.

All seven British medals were won by the two pairs of British skiers, who together helped TeamGB reach their 6-12 medal target for the Games.

Fitzpatrick and Kehoe’s gold also thwarted Slovakian pair Henrieta Farkasova and Natalia Subrtova who were aiming for a clean sweep in the skiing events.  The Slovakian paid led the leader board after the first run by two thirds of a second, but eventually lost by two thirds of a second to the British duo.

The gold is only the second ever won by the British Paralympic team in a Winter Games.  The first gold was won by Kelly Gallagher four years ago in Sochi, she was sixth today.
