A growing number of skiers, from virtual beginners to the instructor teaching them, have a hidden advantage on the slopes – the ski~mojo.
Put simply, the ski~mojo is a pair of spring-loaded knee supports that clip onto your ski boots to create an exoskeleton for your legs and knees. Used on the recommended setting, it will take approximately a third of the load off your thighs and knees.
The benefits are most appreciated by anyone suffering with knee pain or knee injury – as one ski~mojo user put it, “it takes away a third of the strain, but all of the pain”.
Significantly reduced load on the legs and knees makes skiing less physical effort, enabling you to ski longer. Longer before you have to stop to catch your breath, longer before you have to stop for a refreshment break, longer before you have to stop for the day, longer before you have to stop skiing altogether.
Many users have estimated that their skiing life has been extended by anything from 10 to 20 years. One ESF instructor in Val d’Isère believes that the ski~mojo will enable him to carry on instructing for at least another ten years – before he discovered the ski~mojo last season, he was contemplating having to give up skiing and snowboarding due to chronic knee pain.
The ski~mojo costs around the same as a good pair of ski boots and should last longer, enabling you to get better value for money from your ski pass.
A few modifications have been made for this season that reduce the initial fitting time considerably – the new one-size-fits-all ski~mojo can now be set up in a matter of minutes, without the need for any tools other than an Allen key, which is provided.
