5 Reasons Why You Should Book Your Next Holiday in the Skicircus
Austria’s Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is one of the biggest and best ski regions in the country. In fact, with 70 lifts and 270km of slopes for all tastes and abilities, spread across a vast area straddling the border of the famous ski provinces of Salzburgerland and Tirol, it’s one of the biggest in the entire Alps. It’s also one of the coolest, with loads of great mountain huts and a buzzing après ski scene.
There are great flight connections to Salzburg from the UK, from where there’s a direct shuttle or efficient public transport connections to the ski area.
Here are five reasons why you need to book your next ski holiday there.
-
The Long Name Means Long Runs
Although ‘The Skicircus’ is quite a catchy name, the full title: ‘Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn’ doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. But the area’s marketing staff are convinced this length title, which encompasses the region’s largest and most famous resort of Saalbach-Hinterglemm as well as the smaller linked village of Leogang and the famous powder-pocket of Fieberbrunn should remind skiers that long name = lots and lots of skiing.
The options include the longest ski circuit in the Alps – 65km (41 miles) long, taking in 32 lifts and 12,400m of altitude difference (about 1.5 Mount Everests…) and taking around seven hours to ski (before you add in snack and meal breaks). Along with the 270km of slopes in the Skicircus, the region is connected by ski lifts and a ski bus to the neighbouring ski area of Zell am See and its skiing, as well as that of Kaprun with its glacier skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn, is included in the Ski ALPIN CARD which increases the piste kilometres available to you to 408km – or over 250 miles of runs!
These are served by more than 120 lifts including lots of fast, comfortable, state-of-the-art chairlifts and gondolas meaning more comfort, less standing in line and more time actually going downhill than almost any other ski area anywhere.

Fabulous Food
A big part of any ski holiday is the food and you’ll certainly be well satisfied by the Skicircus. On the ski slopes themselves there are 60 huts to choose from, with an eclectic selection of both cosy, traditional huts (some up to three centuries old) and some cool, modern establishments as well. With so many to choose from it means that even though there are hundreds of kilometres of slopes, you’re never far from your next pitstop – be is a quick refuel with hot chocolate and a homemade cake or a full three-course lunch that will probably be the end of your day on the slopes. What all 60 mountain restaurants have in common are great food, locally sourced ingredients and superb service.
-
Superb Snow
The slopes of the Skicircus are famous for their beautifully smooth grooming and you’re always just minutes away from your next great descent when you jump into one of the main fast gondolas, of which the region boasts more than any other ski area. But of course not everyone likes ‘groomers’ as our American friends call them, and so the off-piste freeriding slopes as well as ski touring descents are plentiful as well. A short hike will take you to many itineraries and ski guides are ready and waiting to lead you to the best spots when you visit. Fieberbrunn as a particularly strong reputation for its deep powder snow so it’s no surprise that one of the few European stops on the annual Freeride World Tour is right there.
-
Fun Times For Families
On the slopes there are wonderful kids’ areas, fun runs and family parks. Off the slopes there are seemingly endless opportunities to spend quality time together, perhaps on a cosy horse-drawn sleigh ride or a walk across the ‘Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps’. You’ll find one of the longest and fastest zipwires in the Alps, the Flying Fox XXL, where you can hit up to 80mph (130kph) whizzing through the air, as well as five different toboggan runs and Timok’s Alpine Coaster in Fieberbrunn, which is free to ride with your ski lift pass. There are treetop walks, there’s even the chance to hike along in the company of llamas! You’ll also find lots of family-oriented deals when you book your holiday direct via the Skicircus website.

Some say the happiness come from the friendly, caring service everyone from the ski school instructors to hoteliers aim to deliver, others that it’s the feeling of joy from skiing a perfectly smooth run or just the sheer exultation of bouncing down through fresh powder.
