Back to Austria’s Ski amadé

The Hochkönig ski area is home to the three villages of Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach. It’s a stunningly beautiful and unspoilt area where sustainability is a high priority.

Altogether there are 120 kilometres of piste in the Hochkönig region here served by 34 ultra-modern ski lifts in front of a breathtaking Alpine backdrop. The area has also got a strong reputation for its superb terrain parks and fun slopes for all ability levels from beginners to pros. The skiing options include the popular “King’s Tour” which takes you on a 35km long trip around the ski area with its magnificent mountain backdrop, descending a total of 7,500 vertical metres en route. 

The equally popular “Culinary King’s Tour” takes you through a  choice of mountain huts, at each of which you can take a different dis from a three or four-course menu. Various gastronomic themes are available from traditional Austrian to gourmet, or even a vegetarian or vegan menu. 

There are also great family deals and activities including the fabulous Schneewutzel children’s club and excellent ski school.

Off the skis lopes activities to try in the Hochkönig region include a snowshoe excursion, a ski tour or on an evening of toboggan run.  Therea rea lso plenty of events organised including music events like the Alpine Craft Festival, culinary highlights like the Gondel.Alm.Genuss and traditional event classics like the Skihüttenroas. There’s always something going on at the peak of emotions.
