Only two years off its centenary, Steamboat in Colorado stages its 98th Winter Carnival on 2nd to 6th February 2011. This annual celebration includes a variety of exciting and fun-filled events which embrace Steamboat’s western heritage and highlight the town’s tradition of winter sports and generally add a little extra fun to your ski holiday.
Highlights include ski joring which involves people on skis or boards being pulled along by horseback riders. The world’s first ski band are there too and there’s wonderful snow sculptures all along Lincoln Avenue. At night there’s a show, huge fireworks display and the famous Lighted Man.
