Altitude Festival Moves To Start Of Winter

26 Jul 16

It turns out there will be two Altitude festivals in 2016 as, after moving from its traditional end-of-season spring slot to a January date last winter, the famous comedy festival in the mountains will be staged again before the end-of-the-year, and indeed before Christmas at the very start of this winter.

The 11th Altitude Festival will be back in Mayrhofen in the Austrian Tirol however and the original format of an intense five days with three shows daily will still be run when it takes place from 10-17 Dec 2016 in Mayrhofen in the Austrian Tirol when Marcus Brigstocke, Andrew Maxwell and pals once again presenting the “funniest show on snow.”

The headliners, which in the past have included Eddie Izzard, John Bishop and most other comedians you’ve ever heard of, are yet to be announced but acts confirmed so far include Zoe Lyons, Andy Askins, Daniel Sloss, Glenn Wool, Kai Humphries and of course The International Impro Allstars.

With its new dates The Altitude Festival’s organisers say they intend to top the week off with a spectacular Festival of Light – lighting up the town of Mayrhofen with incredible illuminations, with some free Glühwein and Austrian snacks to warm you up. And, as it’s Christmas , Mayrhofen will be laying on the best Austrian Christmas Market in the nearby enchanted forest.

Crystal Ski Holidays are partnering with Altitude this season and offer a week’s half board at the four-star Fun & Spa Hotel Strass from £562 per person (two sharing) with flights from Gatwick to Innsbruck and transfers, departing on 10 December 2016. Price with wristband £692 per person (entrance to all shows) and with VIP wristband £752 (VIP = entrance to all shows, a free bottle of wine or up to for beers for the gala show, reserved seating, meet & greet the comedians and an Altitude t-shirt).

Altitude Wristbands will also get you one-day access to the nearby Hintertux Glacier (which over the last 10 years recorded 99.9% chance of snow on our new December dates).
