There’s been fairly heavy snow in the Alps over the past 24 hours, particularly in Austria, Switzerland and the Eastern French Alps. However there’s been at least some fresh snow almost everywhere in the Alps.

Up to 50cm of fresh snow has fallen in the past 24 hours with Engelberg (below this morning), which had already been reporting the deepest snow base in the world at nearly 6 metres (20 feet) receiving the biggest 24 hour accumulation of Europe’s major resorts with 37cm (15 inches) of fresh snow.

Elsewhere in Switzerland, resorts in the Portes du Soleil reported up to 30cm of fresh snow (20cm on the French side), as did Crans Montana whilst Murren in the Jungfrau reportred 29cm in the last 24 hours. Gstaad got 28cm and Villars 25cm.
In Frane Flaine reports 25cm of new snow too, as does Galtur in Austria.
Cauterets in the French Pyrenees reported 30cm of fresh snow there too after a snowy weekend.
