A 500kg snow statue of the Hindu elephant-headed god Ganesha has been created at an indoor snow centre in Mumbai.
The snow sculpture in Phoenix Market City’s Snow World is maintained at -10 degrees Celsius and is reported to be a big hit with locals visiting the centre to view the statue.
In a further surreal twist, the statue is reported to have a background themed on India’s lunar mission Chandrayaan-2.
The stature’s appeal is reported to have peaked during the annual Ganesh Chaturthi festival eartlier this month which celebrates the arrival of Ganesha to earth from ‘Kailash Parvat’ with his mother goddess Parvati/Gauri.
