The 23-24 ski season has got underway at two of Finland’s biggest resorts, Levi and Ruka.
Both resorts have used snow farming – storing over 100,000 square metres of snow each, stockpiled under cover from last season, then spread back out on the slopes, to create a few kilometres of ski runs.
The region was treated to an impressive northern lights display the evening before opening on Friday, 6th October.
Both resorts are organising gear tests and terrain park events this weekend to celebrate the start of the season.
Both will also aim to stay open now for 7 months, through to May 2024, among the longest seasons in the world of ski areas that don’t have glaciers.
