As well as being the largest ski resort in Slovakia, Jasna is also the premier freeride area in Central Europe and will celebrate this fact in just over 2 weeks’ time when it hosts the 4 star freeride competition, CGC Jasna Adrenalin.

This event has been taking place since 2002 and, as a qualifying event for the Freeride World Tour, will showcase all of the best freeriding opportunities Jasna can offer, of which there are plenty.

On top of 49km of perfectly groomed slopes, Jasna boasts 12 lift-accessed, freeride zones, each of which are graded from blue to black. Advanced freeriders might prefer the steep couloirs on the North side whilst those with a bit less experience might want to start with the wide open powder plains on the South. The resort publishes a freeride manual in English and also has a dedicated freeride school and mountain guides. For those interested in enjoying freeride opportunities, but who are possibly wary of how to enjoy them safely and at a lower cost, this is the perfect place to start.

Backcountry Jasna Low Tatras

Jasna is only a 45-minute transfer from Poprad airport which has 4 direct flights per week from London Luton with Wizz Air, making it the perfect weekend destination, especially taking into account the low cost of food and drink (from €1.20 for a drink on the mountain and €5.20 for a meal).

If that has piqued your interest you can win two nights’ accommodation and lift passes for two people here and, even if you don’t win, you’ll be given a code for 20% off your hotel stay.
