Exeter University in Devon will have snow for a skiing and snowboarding competition set to take place on the University’s Forum Hill (pictured) at its Streatham Campus on Saturday 21st, January.
48 tonnes of real snow is being delivered to the University from the Milton Keynes Snozone indoor snow centre (pictured below), nearly 200 miles away.
The snow is being delivered for the ‘Chill Hill’ rail jam that will involve 30 skiers and boarders from six universities in the South West region perform freestyle tricks with rails and boers added to the snow slope.
“After a year of planning hopefully all of our hard work will pay off and everyone will see just why we love this sport so much. I’m very excited we are hosting such an iconic event,” Lauren Fry, president of the Athletic Union’s Snowsports Club told the North Devon Journal.
The event will also aim to raise money for Disability Snowsport UK with a proportion of income from ticket sales to be donated to the charity.
