This Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 11.00am local time, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards will once again leap into action at the Calgary Winter Olympic Park, where he created worldwide fame during the 1988 games.
The event will be broadcast live on Facebook through the organisers Kicking Horse Powder Tours, a UK tour operator working with Eddie the Eagle in Canada throughout this week.
Hosts of the event, the Altius Nordic Ski Club, will be on hand to jump alongside Eddie and provide support on the day. Anyone in the area is invited to come along free of charge to watch.
Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards commented, “Coming here brings back so many memories of the Olympic back in ’88 and although we might not have the kind of crowds we did back then, the adrenaline will still be pumping as I launch myself down the ramp. Ski Jumping is still a passion and I’m really looking forward to giving it another go here, nearly thirty years on.”
Wesley Savill from The Altius Nordic Ski Club also said, “It’s exciting for us to announce that Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards will be jumping in Calgary once again! Please Join us in welcoming a hero of the 1988 Winter Olympics, and watch him soar the Calgary skylines. We invite everyone to come and watch Eddie jump, introduce yourselves to the sport of ski jumping and try it for yourself. There is no cost for the event, and all are invited to participate. If you are interested in ski jumping, please bring your own alpine gear.”
Richard Barker from Kicking Horse Powder Tours added: “Helping to bring Eddie to Canada and then also to Calgary to watch him jump is a real honor. We’ve had a fantastic week skiing in the resort of Kicking Horse and now to top it off we’re heading to the scene of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games to witness a historic moment. We will be capturing this on our Facebook Live Event this Sunday so like our page and tune in from 11.00am local time here (6pm UK time).”
