There have been big snowfalls across Europe over the past 24 hours. In many cases the snow is continuing to fall.
Up to 40cm of snowfall in 24 hours has been reported, with the highest slopes in the Alps seeing the most snow so far. Montgenevre in the French Alps is pictured below.
Ski areas in Scandinavia, the Dolomites (Dolomiti Superski piucctured below) and the Pyrenees have also all seen good snowfall and in northern Scotland roads close to ski centres were closed due to snowfall there.
About 20 ski areas are already open in Europe for the 2016-17 season and there are now powder conditions at resorts like Cervinia (20cm of snow in 24 hours) and Tignes (pictured top).
